The inky/purple blockbuster 2006 Clos de l’Hermitage (managed by Segries, but the estate is owned by Formula One race car Jean Alesi) is an equal part blend of Syrah, Grenache, and Mourvedre aged in old barrels.

Truffle, incense, black fruit, and licorice are followed by a full-bodied, muscular, dense wine to drink over the next decade.

A super value treasure trove in the southern Rhone, Segries is a large estate of 109 acres brought back to life over the last decade by Henri de Lanzac.

The wines continue to go from strength to strength.
